Kingrat Update.........
Greetings from Rockport / Corpus Christi, home of the "four F's", Fish, Fleas, Flies and F**kin' Mosquitoes! We weight down our bags so the mosquitoes don't carry them off!
I miss playing with the Dux. Every Sunday at 9:00 a.m my arm goes into convulsions. The tag round here starts at 3:00 p.m. at Guth Park in Corpus. Guth is a lot like Old Settlers, just a little shorter (though not by much) and there is lots of O.B.. The wind blows at 15 - 20 mph constant with gusts to 30-40! Try playing in that! They allow no "gimmes" here. 10 foot putts into the wind can blow back out pretty easy. Three putting from 25 foot is not unheared of! The other two courses in Corpus are 9 holers, alot like Zilker...but...if you miss a fairway, the shule is tough to get out of. Like Circle C, you may have to play out just to get a decent lie. Ingleside has an 18 hole Houck designed course. It's alot like Zilker also, but the trees are UNFORGIVING! Throw your plastic into the trees and it sticks. If you want it back, you have to climb up and get it! (P.I.A. factor 9.5.)
The "3rd Coast Discgolf Club" is a pretty tight group of folks, just like the Dux. They have 65 members so far...and they have heard of the "Dux". 15 to 20 golfers show up to play and it's damn competitive! Instead of a "Duck" for DFL, they have a dog bone and a cow bell! Makes more noise than all of Fish's bling! There is one guy here that has a Dux tag from last year.
There is an active womens group here also. At least 4 or more ladies show every Sunday. Three are pro. They have their own tags to play for so it makes it the competition interesting. They don't play against the guys, just among themselves for their tags. ( That would be a great concept for the Dux. Evens out the field)
Remember, it's all George Bush's fault!
Until next time....................................kingrat
